A causa del riscaldamento globale, dovuto al devastante impatto sull'ambiente dei combustibili fossili e alla sregolata attività dell'uomo, le barriere coralline stanno sparendo, e lo stanno facendo a una velocità impressionante: solo negli ultimi 30 anni, è andato perso circa il 50% del patrimonio mondiale di coralli. Attraverso fotografie e riprese marine di crudele bellezza, Orlowski testimonia il cambiamento in atto, sviscerando con dovizia di particolari le cause e gli effetti di questo drammatico fenomeno.
